About us

Liam Mikael Kowal was born on 5/25/15 at 8:16 am in Los Angeles, California to Marcus Kowal and Mishel Eder. Liam was a happy, social, and charismatic baby. He was learning Russian, Swedish, English, and American Sign Language. His first word was, "Thank you" in Swedish. He knew how to ask for more food and let his parents know when he was all done eating. He loved his dogs, Scraps, and Frankie. He's traveled to Thailand and Sweden. But most importantly, he was, is and will always be loved.

Liam was on a walk in his stroller with his aunt when they were struck by an SUV while crossing a pedestrian crosswalk on September 3, 2016. The SUV did not stop and tried to flee. Good Samaritans followed the car and apprehended the driver until the police arrived. The driver had been under the influence. Liam was found, still in his stroller, breathless and without a pulse. He was brought back but later had succumbed to serious brain injuries in the hospital. He was pronounced brain dead on September 4, 2016. His parents donated Liam's organs.

The day after Liam's funeral, his parents went to work on his foundation. Marcus and Mishel are determined to make changes when it comes to drinking and driving in the US and spread awareness of the importance of organ donation.

Liam's life was tragically cut short, but his spirit is so mighty he will not be stopped. His parents will fight to bring changes, save lives, and honor their son by creating a lasting legacy for him.

All proceeds go to Liam's Life Foundation to continue the fight against drunk driving.
